Everyone wants a book club these days, but not everyone has literary friends or lives near a cultural hub. Here's how to belong to an online book club.

Ever since Oprah brought back the concept of the book club to mainstream America, everyone wants one in their town. For some people that just isn't possible. Any number of reasons for this exist: not having many real life friends who read, not having time to read and drive to meetings, not living near a cultural hub or in a town large enough to warrant a club, and more.

Thanks to the Internet, you don't have to wait for the right opportunity for an offline club to come up. You can join any number of clubs online. I'll list a few of them here to get you started, but just remember, a book club is just a Google search and a mouse click away.

Slate has an audio book club you can read more about here.

Digest books a chunk at a time via email here with DearReader's service.

RawSistaz book club for African American Literature.

Oprah's book club page.

If you still hanker for human contact in real life try seaching for book clubs in your area on MeetUp.
