Amazon no longer selling ebooks directly.

Many fiction writers have found an outlet for getting published in ebooks that they wouls not find elsewhere. Other fiction authors have found selling an ebook along side their print book increases sales potential.

Recently, Amazon bought a company called Mobipocket. Once they had Mobipocket in their pocket, they decided not to sell ebooks on the Amazon site anymore. If you go to Amazon and search the site you won't get ebook results. Now you have to go directly to the Mobipocket site to order ebooks from Amazon.

To sell your ebook on Mobipocket you have to go through a process that is tedious at best, if free to start. They have a high commission for sales, at 50%, plus an additional 10% if you offer affiliate sales. At those rates without the brand appeal of being on the Amazon site to help drive sales, you'd almost be better off avoiding Amazon/Mobipocket and using your own web site to sell your ebooks.

You can read ore about the process for getting your ebook on Amazon/Mobipocket here in the article of the week.
